Ingredients:
- Raw papaya - 1, medium, peeled and cut into cubes
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Curry powder - 2 tsp (Here is the recipe for curry powder)
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Coconut oil - 2 tsp
- Curry leaves - few
Method:
- Steam cook the cubed papaya until fork tender.
- Heat oil in a skillet. Splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal and fry until golden brown.
- Add asafoetida and curry leaves. Add the steamed papaya, turmeric powder and salt. Stir to combine.
- Add the curry powder and mix well to coat. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring often.
- Serve hot. Best served as a side dish for sambar, rasam or yogurt rice.
